Winter Wedding Warmers!

With Winter well and truly here and Christmas just past, many brides are headlong into organising Winter Weddings. Having stepped outside to yet another frost I think that some ideas for Winter Wedding Warmers are in order!

When I think of winter warmers I think of:

Roaring log fires

Cosy hats and scarves

Me and my little boy in cosy hats!

Snuggly boots

Hot chocolate, mmmm....

So how do each of these translate into creating wonderful Winter Wedding Warmers?

Easy with a bit of

imagination and inspiration

Firstly let’s find a gorgeous setting with that crackling open log fire….. There are many wonderful locations for Weddings and Receptions around the country, but I will stick with some fabulous venues close to where I live on the edge of the Cotswolds, although it is very hard  to choose!

The Plough at Clanfield

fits the bill perfectly with a wonderfully cosy yet stylish feel with its crackling open fires.

Crackling fire at The Plough, Clanfield

The Plough is a beautiful 17th Century Hotel with gorgeous original features which were uncovered and carefully restored by the current owners. These include stone mullion windows, open fireplaces, wonderful beams, panelling and stone floors, which all add to the charm of a winters wedding when bedecked with seasonal decorations:

For a venue that can accommodate from a grand scale down to an intimate setting,

Eynsham Hall

is absolutely perfect as a Winter Wonderland setting for a wedding.

Eynsham Hall in the snow

The Hall has an array of amazing rooms with fire places all but ready to be crackling away, filling the gorgeous space with winter warmth.

coordinator to help plan your magical day, and a fantastic

Now let’s think about the bride and how to keep warm yet still very ‘bridal’ on the day. A winter wonderland can look amazing, and a few shots of the bride in her finery against a snowy backdrop are stunning, but catching pneumonia is not really what you want before jetting off on your long awaited honeymoon!

Once those all-important photos have been taken, why not stay stylish but practical with these amazing Weddington Boots!

Or for something a bit fluffier, Ugg have created a

To keep your head cosy (as long as you have a bridesmaid who can help fix your hair once you are back inside that is ;-)) why not go for a gorgeous knitted hat

But for the ultimate bridal Winter Warmer what is better than a

Makepiece Knitted Wedding Dress

Makepiece Truffle Wedding Dress

I just love the designs that Makepiece create, having previously written about their gorgeous wraps in my blog post

‘Wedding shrugs, wraps, collars, capes’

(also apt for a winter warmer wedding!) Their wedding dresses are truly unique and couldn’t be more suited to a chilly winters day wedding.

Based in Yorkshire, and sourcing and spinning their wool in the UK, a Makepiece wedding dress is truly 'Made in the UK'. See the

Makepiece website

for the complete range of amazing knitted wedding dresses.

For me though the ultimate Winter Warmer is a luxurious hot chocolate, so why not make it a Winter Wedding Warmer!

Hot chocolate 'Bars' or 'Stations' are becoming a popular trend at Winter Weddings where all the bits and pieces needed to make your own hot chocolate are arranged for your guests to use at their leisure.

A wonderful alternative to the traditional hot chocolate, and an all-time favourite find for me are Dunky Spoons!

Dunky Spoons

are the most amazing solid chocolate ‘spoons’ which you simply dunk into warm milk and stir to create a hot chocolate that keeps on giving!

Milky Mooz Dunky Spoon

Dunky spoons are made by

Mon Cacao Chocolatiers

, a UK company based in Monmouth, Wales who hand-make each ‘spoon’ to order in a mouth-watering array of flavours.

With flavours ranging from Christmas Spice and Hot Toddy, to the 70% cocoa solids Dark Chocolate and on to the fun bright green Dragon’s Froth, there are flavours to suit all tastes!

So, from keeping warm on the outside with log fires and snuggly accessories to keeping warm on the inside with luxurious hot chocolate, we hope that you can take some ideas to help create your own Winter Wedding Warmers :-)
