Sassi Holford Bridal Collection 2014
For dresses that are elegant, timeless, beautifully designed with real brides in mind (many come with an amazing hidden corset) and handmade in Britain using the best satins, silks and lace, then Sassi Holford could well be the bridal designer for you.
Sassi Holford is a British Bridal Designer based in Taunton in the South West of England who began her career at just 17 by designing and making a wedding dress for a friend! The business grew, and after Sassi's Bridal gowns were stocked in Harrods and Liberty's of London her success grew also across the UK, Europe and New York.
The Sassi Holford style is classically elegant and romantic with beautiful beading and embroidery, carefully hand stitched by her team in Taunton. As the website tag line says - Perfectly beautiful.... :-)
The theme for the 2014 Signature Collection
is feminine and modern romance; strong silhouettes but using soft and tactile fabrics. Launched first in the UK at the
in August, it was also shown in the US at
The collection encompasses a gorgeous range of designs from the full romantic ball gown skirts of Mimi and Ruby:
To the elegant slim silhouettes of Jessica and Josephine:
There is also a fabulous versatility to the range with jackets, coats and skirts that can be worn together or on top of other gowns in the collection to create a completely different look.
For a gorgeous example, the Jessica dress is seen here worn with the Jemima coat giving the most stunning lace overlay effect.
And the Josephine dress with the Josephine skirt - simply perfect!
The collection continues to show a move away from the strapless designs which were popular a few years ago to more coverage of the arms and décolleté - from delicate lace straps to three quarter and full length sleeves.
There are also some lovely surprises such as the wonderful Martha - a 50's inspired tea length dress with a beautiful flared tulle skirt and satin ribbon belt.
And the most romantic and different of the whole collection in my eyes, Matilda - a fitted bodice and full tulle ball gown skirt with striking antique rose coloured flower applique and silk duchess satin sash to the waist. A statement dress whilst remaining feminine and bridal to the core.
Not only is Sassi Holford an amazing designer and inspirational lady to listen to (see her
for some great insights into her business and thoughts about her collections); she is also a mentor and advocate of new British designers through her fabulous new Bridal 'Esprit' range called
. This is a whole new blog post in itself though so for now I will leave you with a
